Thanks for stopping by! I’m Jess Cook (not to be mistaken for famed musician Jesse Cook, who, incidentally, could pass as my father). I’m a Canadian-American journalist and aspiring dog owner based in New York City. Regrettably, I’m not very musically inclined.
I worked as a Media Analyst for the Privy Council Office while completing my combined honors Journalism & French degree in Ottawa. From there, I moved to New York to write about global gender equality issues at the United Nations Headquarters. Enamored by the city, I went on to join HuffPost’s NYC newsroom, where I work as a World Reporter while pursuing a Global Joint Master’s degree in International Relations & Journalism at New York University.
You can read my past work in The Globe and Mail, National Post, Calgary Herald, Montreal Gazette, UN Women, Syria Deeply, Windsor Star, The Province and several other publications.
My reporting has aired on CBC News Network, CBC Ottawa, CBC Radio One, National Post Radio, HuffPost Rise and Rogers TV. I’ve produced segments for CTV News and Canada AM.
